Candle Care
Candle Care Guide 🕯️
1. Put Safety First
Always keep candles away from children, pets, and anything flammable. Never leave a burning candle unattended—an essential safety measure supported by fire safety experts.
2. Trim Your Wick Before Every Burn
Use scissors or a wick trimmer to snip the wick to about ¼″ (0.6 cm) before lighting. This reduces soot, prevents “mushrooming,” and helps the candle burn cleanly and evenly.
3. Watch Your First Burn
Let the melted wax pool reach the edges of the container on your first burn. This “full melt pool” sets the candle’s memory and helps prevent tunneling—preserving wax and fragrance for future use.
4. Limit Your Burn Time
Burn your candle for no more than 3–4 hours at a time. Longer burn sessions can overheat the wax and degrade your candles, while also creating soot and uneven melting.
5. Keep Away from Drafts
Avoid placing candles near open windows, fans, or vents. Drafts can cause flickering, soot buildup, and uneven melting—so position candles in calm, stable areas.
6. Know When It’s Time to Stop
Once only about ½″ of wax remains, extinguish and recycle the jar. Deep burning can overheat the container and become unsafe.
Optional: Fix Candle Tunneling
If you notice a deep center hole developing alongside solid wax at the edge, try gently warming the top with aluminum foil or a hair dryer to melt the edges and restore an even surface .
